After we got home from the Pommard tasting yesterday evening, we decided to have a little something while watching the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka (via TiVo). Carollee had an Averna Amara as a digestiv, while i had some Patron XO Café with a few Piroulines, dark chocolate and hazelnut chocolate. It made a nice finish to the afternoon tasting and a nice accompaniment to the Formula 1 race.
Around now you need to start selecting and storing wines for the long term. You will also need to develop relationships with restaranteurs. You will also need to have someone near you cook great meals. And you will need to develop suppliers of food products to facilitate meal production.
We started eating in good restaurants with good wine lists before we were married. We were buying wines from good wine shops from the mid-60s. In the mid 70s, when we bought our first home, we started collecting wine for longer term consumption. Our whole adult life has been oriented around the consumption of good food and good wines, enjoyed in the company of good friends.
