Affordable Half Bottles? Everyday types that won't break the bank?

Siduri Pinots (appellations will be in your price range) and Novy Syrahs. If you aren’t aware, both brands are run together. Best part is that you can often get mix and match volume discounts, which end up cancelling out the higher per ounce price you normally see for 375s.

I saw some decent pricing on a couple of Qupe wines awhile back. Catena Malbec is another one that comes in a 375ml.

Seems like you are in the Bay:

They have a great search function and quite a bit of product.

Somehow I don’t think someone looking for sub $20 half bottles is in the market for a $300+ preservation system.

Lopez Heredia half bottles are a good option and under well under $20.

Thanks for all the suggestions and welcoming. Recently K&L has been out of the 375 Ridge. I’ll check out half wit wines and give the other suggestions a go.

Half wit’s regular pricing is rediculous. Sale prices can be good but then you get the note tha " orders made up of mostly sale wine may not qualify for fee shipping and may incur 2buck a bottle fee"

Half Wit’s pricing is stupidly expensive. It almost seems like they purchase retail and then mark it up another 30%. pileon

Hey, me 58, he a 20 something kid of mine. In between his 20 buck chuck, he is sipping burgundy, italy and various “your friends will never drink this” kind of wines. So, counsel him wisely, but don’t feel sorry for this kid.

If you are up for a drive, Ahlgrens on highway 9 in the Santa Cruz mountains is selling off their stock and have half bottles of Cabernet, Pinot and Syrah. I was up there last weekend and got a case of 2000 Syrah 375 ml at $15 bottles and 25% case discount. Dexter and Val are very welcoming hosts. Just be patient as they are not in a hurry, being in their 80s.

We used to do this a lot when we were younger. The pressure of two kids, jobs, etc. has us wanting to finish bottles (or two) most of the time now, but as I’m getting older I want to return to this strategy.

I emailed half wit about shipping from ca to ny they said they ship year round never any problems. I’m a little wary

You’ll have to search to find it, but I thought someone else mentioned on this board a higher than normal spoilage with bottles from Half Wit.

Ouch! Thanks for the heads up! Here’s the link: Best online retailer to buy 375ml splits? - WINE TALK - WineBerserkers

I received an email from HWW saying that they’d have to charge an extra $2/btl, since I was only buying sale wines. I asked when they anticipated shipping and the reply was:

“tomorrow. thanks. gordon.”

I’m not happy about the shipping charge (although it is posted prominently during the order process), but I am definitely not comfortable with shipping now.

I sent an email and left a voice message asking to cancel.

Can you really get those for around $15 a half bottle. If so, please tell me where. I would love some.

A father/son combination on the board? Wow. [welldone.gif] [winner.gif]

My dad is on a couple of the boards every once in a while. It’s kind of creepy if you ask me.
