I just purchased a double magnum that will need ageing for many years. We don’t have a cellar and won’t have one anytime soon; everything is stored in wine fridges. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions?
Can you take out a shelf in your wine fridge and dedicate that area for long term bulk storage?
If not, I guess you should have thought about that earlier

Do you have a dark closet that doesn’t vary much in temperature?
Can you store with family member or friend in appropriate conditions?

Thank you for the suggestions! We have one interior closet (more stable temp) that is rarely used, so that’s where the bottle will go, at least until I can figure out something else. If I can rein in my purchasing 
, taking out a drawer in a fridge would work. My wine friend has storage, but not temp controlled, so it’s not an improvement over our closet.

Astrid - maybe a dumb question, but no passive cellar?
Unfortunately no passive cellar. The house doesn’t have a lot of storage space, and oddly, there are only two “interior” closets. The remaining ones are against exterior walls and get hot during the summer. And no basement in SoCal.

Nice price for a nice wine, Astrid! I think the 750’s were $43 at our Costco here in the Bay Area. It is also a very nice wine, and IMO should have a very broad drinking window. As far as storage, we have stored some cellar defenders in our downstairs closet for several years and the wines have been fine. If you can find a styrofoam and cardboard shipping container, that also might help, if there are no other options.

I don’t think so, as styro has low R value and the wine will quickly reach the ambient storage room temp and provide no value re temperature protection.
I know this is true, about the R value, but we’ve tested dozens of times of wine, food, and ice packs and they always stay noticeably colder in styo. It’s hard not to pay attention to so many personal experiences and experiments.

this is why I felt styro irrelevant.
The styrofoam container is not a bad idea for general protection, though, so I am going to try to locate one… Little earthquakes can dislodge items from shelves and hit the bottle on the floor.
