Advice on new Eurocave La Premiere

Hello,

I recently pulled the trigger on a new Eurocave La Premiere L after many years…but I’m having a few issues that have me scratching my head/leaving me feeling a little disappointed. From some less than desireable customer service to some questionable assembly including wires loose from coupling causing excess vibration noises things like that. These aren’t a big deal in the end now that they’re resolved.

I have a smaller Eurocave Vielletheque that was manufactured in 2010 that I bought used for cheap and have been very happy with it. The thing is a tank, when I purchased it it was in pretty bad shape but I cleaned it up, replaced a faulty door seal and got it back in working order and it’s been running with perfect temp and humidity for 5 years and it’s ultimately what helped me pull the trigger on the new unit. (a big purchase for me)

Having the old fridge I’m definitely can’t help comparing the two units and I find the new La premiere to have a much more obtrusive and high frequency compressor noise. The older unit is only really noticeable when the compressor snaps on, after that the noise is low frequency and totally reasonable. I was wondering if someone with the same unit could weigh in? I didn’t expect a newer unit to be worse in terms of noise…is it because it’s larger? just a difference in compressor… or an issue. Before I settle I was hoping to have some piece of mind, unfortunately there isn’t a show room I can go listen to another unit.

The other issue I’m noticing is the fan in the La premiere doesn’t blow like the small unit so that led me to put a piece of paper in the unit and the fan sucks and holds the paper instead of blowing in the wind in the old unit. Perhaps the techology has changed in 15 years, but I thought the fan was to distribute the cold air entering the unit. Any advice would be appreciated!

I can’t comment from experience (new here, and also looking for those who have experience with Eurocave to chime in on my experience with my new fridge)… but I do know Eurocave publishes noise emissions of their units. the La Premiere L is rated at 37dB, which is some way lower than the 42dB rated for my V059V3 (compact). I find that the noise on mine is only audible when it first spurs on (it’s a little high pitched but not squeeky high), and then the sound essentially disappears in the background (probably at a lower frequency)… sounds more akin to your older unit.
