Costco offers a 1-year supply of freeze-dried and dehydrated food for $999. So who is buying this??? People who believe in 2012? [scratch.gif]

I think it stretches the bounds of the English language to call that “food.”

Bruce

Just need to paackage this with some shotgun shells for the zombies and i’m in.

If they were still alive my grandparents probably would buy.

No idea. I can see having a week or two’s worth of that on hand if you believed you were likely to need it (i.e. if you thought there was a good chance of being caught in a natural disaster etc and being out of touch of aid for a while). But… a YEAR’s worth?

lol … seriously. if nobody comes to your rescue after a week or two you should probably take the hint! [snort.gif]

some of the comments are pretty awesome. hope it comes with a years supply of tin foil helmets too!

I’m mostly pretty ignorant about this but back during the “Whole Earth Catalog” days I believe I read that Mormon families were supposed to store enough food and water to survive for a long period of time. Of course it wasn’t this stuff – you would get bags of wheat and a grinder, barrels of salt and sugar. Potatoes, home canned vegetables. Salted meat. Farm food…

If you order the years worth of food, it comes with a copy of Orwell’s book, 1984, a newly available DVD copy of Soylent Green, one 38 caliber bullet and a couple other things I can’t mention because the tread would get moved to Politics.

Slight drift, but how many days do you shop for?

Carrie made her monthly run to the grocery store yesterday. Twenty six trips carrying bags upstairs.

Raley’s had a sign on the door this morning “Closed until Wednesday for restocking.”

Here’s another thought. Reality show of two groups of dieters, one group with the Costco supply and one group on a years supply of the Army’s MRE’s, battling to see which group will lose the most weight, (and sense of taste).

I know nobody on this board would enter the contest. Three problems: Good wine; Flannery meats; Offlines.

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread.

Another drift, one more stupid thought:

“Dinner With Dick Krueger”

Dick,

Is there anyway possible that you could do a years worth of this stuff and make it as appealing as the meals you regularly post???
