A seriously great steakhouse in Westchester

Hudson prime in Irvington has been around for some years. We don’t normally go to steakhouses as I love Flannery, so can’t see much point. But we had friends over from England, who wanted to go to one.

Good ambience, great service, and the steaks were at least as good as Flannery. We took some home; you can see the marbling on cold steak and this was really well marbled. Sides were also excellent, potatoes gratin a standout. Corkage a fairly reasonable $40. It means you can bring some good wines; we had a fantastic Phelps Eisele 1984 and a surprisingly good Leoville Las Cases 2006.

Thoroughly enjoyable and thoroughly recommended.

We have a steakhouse in our town. We’ve been here for 24 years and until 2 years ago, we never went. Our friends invited us to go and we were stunned. There’s nothing innovative. It’s a traditional steakhouse menu that never changes. Yet the product that they put out is really solid. Perfectly cooked steaks, oysters, crab cocktail, fries, au poive sauce and an icy cold martini. This all happens in a packed restaurant with a lively bar scene. The whole place feels energetic while other local places feel tired. Very happy to have this restaurant in town.
