Alexander Jules Fino 4/65, bottled 5/2015
nice but a slightly rough texture, really needs food to be enjoyed.
B
2009 Colet Navazos Extra Brut
very nice but as always I can’t help but think that there are many Champagnes I prefer at a similar price point
B/B+
Lustau Almecenista Fino del Puerto
Lovely on the finish
B+
Manzanilla Velo Flor
very nice, light, dancing flavors

1950 Williams & Humbert Oloroso
As an avowed Anada fanatic I’d been hoping to try one of these for many years. A recent auction gave me that chance.
Like be being hit over the head with a 2x4 made of Sherry.
Wow! If a Sherry learned Goku’s Kaioken x10 technique this is what it would taste like. Gorgeous flavor, though perhaps a touch lacking in nuance. Nose continues to improve with air.

Luis Perez Vina El Corregidor
Another sparkling wine, quite lovely. B+
2024 The Flor of Evangelho, Palomino fino
Not a sound bottle. C
2025 The Flor of Evangelho, Palomino Fino
Much better. B
Pedro Romero Prestige VORS Palo Cortado Viejisimo
Unbelievably gorgeous nose, on palate there almonds, caramel and layers upon layers of flavor

Barbadillo Bota Unico Alcalde 1/1 San Roberto Palo Cortado
Single barrel release, October 2001
A calm, perfectly poised and balanced wine. My eyes opened wide at first taste and performed the same trick at every succesive sip. Remarkable. With air the nose gets even better, a fresh spring breeze.
A+
La Bota, oops. Palo Cortado
i can’t read my notes to tell whether it was the 21 or 121. Hopefully someone else will chime in. In either case it was lovely with orange peel, pleasing lightness bitterness and a sweet nose.
A-
1994 Gonzalez Byass Anada Oloroso
the 1950 might be the “greater” wine but I prefer the bright and lifted Byass, with complex notes of orange peel, cinnamon, and almonds.
A+
1918 Lustau “Anada” Oloroso
This is not actually an Anada even though it says that on the label. Anyway, it was okay
B-
Dom. Fonanel Rancio Sec
Very reductive nose. Feh.
