My initial reaction is Alton Brown-ish–why an absurd unitasker that just takes up more counter space? But perhaps I’m missing an incredible kitchen device.
Has anyone known anyone to own/use a hot chocolate maker?
$99 for a Hot Chocolate Maker, yikes! I agree w you Bruce. How bout a pan and a whisk?
Cocomotion, that is cute though.
If you’ve never tried Mexican Hot Chocolate, it’s worth a try. The chocolate comes in discs, and you heat it in a pan with milk, and use a whisk to froth it up. Way better than Swiss Miss or most any other powder mix I’ve ever tried.
ridiculous. you can make unreal hot chocolate with the steam wand of any decent espresso machine. buy an expobar office control …they sell for under $1,000…and you’ll have awesome hot chocolate.
Strictly speaking, Mexican hot chocolate is made with water, not milk. That’s how my wife, who is from Mexico City, prefers hers. It’s lighter while allowing the chocolate richness to shine through.
Have any of you guys had some like I put up pictures of? They are almost like hot chocolate pudding and (at least in Italy) often laced with liqeuers. Yummy and warming beyond the call of duty…

As a matter of fact today. I was writing a loan for a has-been lead singer of a of an El Paso, TX boy band. This of course after the former wife of a chef of a restaurant that was once visited by Prince before he was famous but after he was good - you know, when he was working the bar scene in Minneapolis - stopped by my office to say hello.
I love you because you kid but, seriously, they take Hot Chocolate to a whole 'nother level in Spain and Italy.
I remember we got off the train in Bolzen (Alto Adige) and they had a placard with twenty variations (including 10 that were spiked). We were going to taste wines at Laimburg so we begged off but the one with cherry grappa and cinnamon smelled SO good.
Oh…yeah. Two of those and you feel like you can see into the future and walk on water. That stuff is the secret to how people in Barcelona can go to dinner at midnight then head to a club at 3AM and party till the sun comes up and then go to work…at the BANK or HOSPITAL.
