2019 Weingut Lassak Riesling Hessigheim - Germany, Württemberg (9/23/2022)
A bit shy on the nose at first with some faint citrus and limestone. After some 20 minutes in the glass a cheesy lees notes emerged that was quite a bit overwhelming and tough to get past. Two hours in and it became more manageable. A bit of tropical fruit and ripeness with lots of herbaceous notes. Amchor, dhania, and a very mild hint of cooked down asafoetida. A very unique expression of Riesling, but doesn't quite do it for me. AP 04 21

NV Dennis Wolf Riesling Cuvée Kurt #1 - Germany, Pfalz (9/23/2022)
Strong passion fruit note on the nose. Nervy and high acid on the palate, Hitting high on the back of the cheekbone and making them tense up. Some salty mineral notes on the palate. Zesty and enjoyable, albeit a bit simple. AP 11 20

2019 Müller-Ruprecht Riesling trocken - Germany, Pfalz (9/23/2022)
Some wines are fun for intellectually stimulation they provide, others are just gulpable and flat out fucking delicious. When those two overlap, boy is that a lot fun. Breezy and light on the nose. Lime zest, asian pear, oyster shell and crushed slate. Chiselled on the palate with a strong mid palate presence. Somewhat reminiscent to me of a kabi trocken from the Mosel. My favourite of the riesling lineup by a long stretch. AP 07 20

2019 Müller-Ruprecht Saumagen Riesling N - Germany, Pfalz (9/23/2022)
This had a strong sponti note that was tough to overcome at first. Took some 3 hours to clear up. A bit riper with a more tropical fruit profile than the riesling trocken tasted alongside it. Salty and piquant with passion fruit and slate. A bigger, more powerful wine than the trocken tasted alongside it.

2019 Gunderloch Nackenheim Rothenberg Riesling Großes Gewächs - Germany, Rheinhessen (9/23/2022)
Lemon-lime citrus powder on the nose. Breezy, zesty and quite enjoyable. A bit more ripeness on the palate than the nose suggested. More viscous than the other rieslings tasted, but not surprising given its GG status. A bit too rich on the palate for my taste, and a bit empty in the midpalate. With air that improved a bit, filling some of the midpalate, but not fully. AP 11 20

A lot of pure red fruits on the nose with a tinge of soil tone. Silty tannins and a nice refreshing acidity. Simple, but well made and enjoyable. AP 13 20
