A couple of promising 5 year olds from Rhys and Littorai

A pair of Pinots for the future that are showing great now.

2011 Littorai Pinot Noir The Haven Sonoma Coast
I LIKE THIS WINE: 94 points
13.3% abv. Bright, transparent burgundy red with good aromatics. On the palate, red cherry, raspberry and a sweet floral note. A bit richer, deeper and more pure than the Horseshoe. Very energetic, with attractive, concentrated fruit. Looking forward to tasting another in 6-8 years!

2011 Rhys Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard Santa Cruz Mountains
I LIKE THIS WINE: 94 points
12.4% abv. Medium burgundy with exceptional aromatics. On the palate, tart cherry, raspberry, Asian spice and a little Forrest floor. Taught, lively, focused and intense. Great depth and length. I’m guessing this wine is still on a steep ascent.

Thanks for the notes, Mike. Those descriptions are right in my wheelhouse. I have 2 bottles of each of those and while I probably won’t wait 6-8 years nor am I in any hurry.

Two reference point producers. Thanks for sharing.
