Just wanted to give a public (in the wine nerd-o-sphere) ‘thank you’ to the good folks (specifically Jeroen) at Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler. After a fantastic trip to the Mosel and Alsace (a bit of a Riesling Odyssey; thanks to many Berserkers for your recommendations) and after visiting several great producers and experiencing many fantastic and enlightening tastings, I felt that our visit here was the most educational, honest, and personalized. Not to mention, we drank some really good juice that, in some instances, was from a total production of only a few cases and, of which, only a few bottles remained. We tasted everything in the spectrum of cut yourself dry trocken to TBA sweet ambrosia honey. (Special mention to the super crisp, clean, and minerally pure Bernkasteler Alte Badstube am Doctorberg Riesling Großes Gewächs and the sweet but lithe and fresh Erdener Prälat Auslese)
(On a side note, interesting to see the producers in the Mittelmosel talk about the importance of producing quality trocken Riesling)
