'98 Antinori Tignanello

1998 Antinori Tignanello, Single Vineyard, Toscana, IGT, $60: The color is fading at the edge of the rim…nose is of leather and earth with a clay/smoke character…the palate attack is of sour dark cherry with leather and spice with a long decrescendo finish that starts to sweeten…tannins are minor and the overall impression is of an older wine than 11yrs…Overall a very rustic style of wine that seems in opposition to the typical reputation at Antinori…

Drinking quite well now…did well with ricotta/spinach stuffed shells…

Tig is one of my favourite Super Tuscans as it drinks well young and is reasonably affordable. Too bad your bottle drank older than it was. From my recollection it was a really good drink just after release, but alas I only got a couple and they were long ago killed.
