2000 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Charmes - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru (2/14/2014)
Absolutely singing. There’s a faint whiff of toasty development along with a riot of exotic fruits. It has some almond butter and the palate is full and creamy yet with outstanding detail. With air some citrus blossom notes appear and the finish is punctuated by grapefruit acidity. -
1979 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Teurons - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (2/13/2014)
Smells of decaying leaves, smoked meats, wet earth and burnt fig. Full of teriary, savoury flavour in the mouth. It has a streak of minerally acidity and sweetens up in the mid the more time it spends in the glass. Drinking very well. -
2010 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru (2/13/2014)
Vibrant nose of pommegrabite, freshly grated ginger, cherry and smoked meats. It is sweet and juicy bin the mouth with a fine lacy texture and terrific detail. There’s plenty of savoury and floral nuance and it is a wine of perfect harmony and proportion.
