The quote for the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer summary is, at best, misleading. Many vineyards had insufficient water during the growing season, particularly in the Saar region.

Quality is overall high though.
It is also mentioned that other European countries have lower harvests, example:
Austria is down 33% 
compared to 2025,
France -2%

After a week, a first revision indicates that harvest levels are in parity with 2025.

The last sentence in that report may be the crux of it:
“The grapes reached an exceptionally high ripeness”
It will be interesting to see what the effects of five heatwaves have been.

According to the report, production in the Mosel region is down nearly 20 percent. I suspect the decline is even greater in the Saar and Ruwer subregions.
