As much as I liked this wine I’m passing. I tend to crush these types of wines like kool-aid on a hot day. Last 3 pack we finished almost inside of a weekend.
Or you can look at it as $120 per bottle and free shipping
I passed this year as well. Full cellar and value issue at this level.
Order in. Not sure if I’ll be a return customer as the price is up there for these whites. But had to give it a shot.
Yep, there’s so much $20-30 Sauv blanc at local wine stores and I don’t tend to cellar and savor it like the cabs, pinots, sparklings, rhone whites etc.
I can tell you their SB outperforms those retail store 20-30 SBs by a mile imo.
Absolutely agree. Comparing a $20-30 at your local wine store is like comparing a Camry to a Ferrari.
These wines need a few hours of air to really shine, but PnP isn’t a huge issue either.
Not saying $110/bottle isn’t verging on the land of too expensive, but these are absolutely worth it, IMO. The blend is absolutely stellar.
I passed as well. These are great wines but I prefer Realm Fidelio at around a similar price point.
I agree Realm Fidelio is great as well. I consolidated my SB buying to just KE, Realm, and now MOWE. Definitely dont miss MOWE!
I had the SB at a tasting with Nigel this Summer and loved it. It was at the end of a great day of tastings. I definitely wanted to order a 3 pack to see if it was the wine or the day speaking and look forward to sharing it soon with good friends to find out. Then I can decide whether it remains an annual purchase but I wanted a good revisit as I loved it the first time
Interesting, I love Realm Fidelio, Spottswoode and just purchased KE, I am excited to try MOWE as well…
Im assuming you will love MOWE as well
Havent tried the 23 but the 22 was really good. Excited to try the 23.
I’m passing on these because I already have too much wine on it’s way or already on the racks but a big part of me wishes I hadn’t passed…
I definitely have too much wine as well haha
Totally agree, and I’d put it way above estate and OV Rochioli SB I used to buy every year. But I’ll get a lot more satisfaction out of an $85 (over $100 shipped) bottle of the varieties I noted above. Expensive SB doesn’t really make sense to me but it is what it is. At the same time who am I kidding(?), if I didn’t buy the KE/Aberro chenin I’d probably be all over this, but spending habits have changed drastically as well as well as overall consumption.
Understood. And i didnt buy the KE chenin this time. Prioritozation.
Debated on pulling the trigger on these as well due to cost but in the end took a 3 pack. Opened a couple 22’s this year and they’re certainly a well made wine but felt an extra gear was missing at such a young age.
Planning to cellar future bottles like I do Bordeaux whites and let them develop some complexity.
Supposedly the 23 KE is better than the 22. Ill pop one early just to see!
Thank you for your sacrifice
Just received an allocation, FOMO averted.
