2023 California Harvest - latest ever?

I will say that big yields were not consistent across the board - some of the sites I work with were way down

Yes, the yield levels varied a lot by region. The two regions I work with, Santa Cruz Mountains and Monterey County were the opposite. S C Mtns was generally a lot lower crop on everything whereas Monterey County was overall higher levels of crop. S C Mtns was a good 10 to 20 percent lower yields than average. The only increased yield I had from the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA was from a truly dry-farmed Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard planted in 1981. There’s no drip irrigation out there to use even in drought conditions so it gets real happy and puts on more fruit when we finally have some real rain like this vintage.
