That’s interesting to hear it only needs 1 hour. Although, it does track with what other winemakers/wineries have said about the 2022s being far more approachable in their youth than other vintages.
looking forward to trying!
I noticed that and was planning to reach out myself, but forgot. Thanks for doing that and posting the answer, Steve. I’ll be curious to see how the wine shows for people who decide to open it soon.
I have not read the letter, but this brings to mind question of drinking window for 2022 and other vintages. Has anyone discussed this with Alex - do they have views on recommended timelines for opening the various vintages?
Had the ‘22 tonight and… oh my Gawd. Decanted for slightly over an hour and it was absolutely singing. Simply spectacular.
Thanks for the report. Your note has me leaning towards opening one over the holidays when my dad is here. We had a great visit with Alex in Sept. 2022, which he still talks about, so I’m sure he’d be excited to enjoy one together.
Do it! You don’t get those nights back
Tasted with Alex Thursday. Re: 22, he reiteratved that it is more open than many of their vintages at release but he believes it also has a long life ahead. I do not believe he thinks it will have the same longevity from vintage as say the 13, though he did not say that specifically
Had the 2022 in March…wow! Definitely intend to open one early.
