Crossing fingers??? Should have been a condition of the sale ![]()
After hammer, itās now actually a loss to flip SQN.
Thatās how I have looked at it - folks who have been generous to me who have interest in wines I own but they canāt get. I doubt I would sell my last bottle, but peeling off a bottle here and there seemed like the right thing to do. Whether I am around when they open up their bottles (yes - should have been a condition of sale!), Iām certain they will share something great with me either way.
I was able to try one, thanks to @David_Baum, at a WB Offline. It was wonderful. Davidās friend brought an Old Sparky to the same event, and others brought some wines most donāt have the opportunity to try often. We brought some a couple of aged Monte Belloās, because that is where we have some depth in the cellar, and they seem to be reasonable crowd-pleasers. It was a great day! And, your friends are very fortunate that you are willing to share!
We signed up in 2015. Still waiting and expect to wait for awhile longer. Graeme and Alex seem like great people and deserve all the praise and demand for their wines that they are receiving.
Despite how he comes off in the NFL thread
@David_Baum is a great guy and not surprised he opened up the MacD. Travel with him to Ohio sometime and we will open some MacD and more with @Dave_McIsaac
Sorry to go off topic, but my wife has dozens of relatives in Columbus and Akron. We will definitely be going out that way in the next year or two!
We are an hour from Akron and 3 from Columbus. That said Iād rather meet in Columbus ![]()
Iāve been contemplating a trip to Columbus
Keep me in mind
I missed the deadline on the 16th, didnāt notice until the 17th and replied to the reminder email on the 16thā¦he replied back the same day that they saved an allocation for me. Long story short, opened the link today (18th) didnāt work, I replied that my info was on file and Iād take anything if they could, or be happy to stay on the list if they were so kindā¦and an hour later I was notified they have an order for me. Very kind of them, itās my only ācultā list Iām on anymore.
Both of my daughters live in Columbus - it takes little arm-twisting to get me to go thereā¦
What!?
Didnāt realize the Chinese were making fake MacDonald. Thought it was only Lafite!
Iāve been hoping to pickup a 2013! Can you send along that website!!!
Figured Iād have had to part with $1k to get it.
Fellas, donāt be suckers. You donāt want to buy that bottle!
The neckās broken off, for goodness sake.
I believe these ship this week or next, right?
thatās what my email read. shipping 10/27
Correct! Per Alexās email yesterday, the shipment date is Monday, October 27.
Ive been asking for Mags for YEARS! Good to know they are at least hereā¦for some
Was surprised when I received the shipment Friday to see the insert recommended only 1 hour double decanting - dramatically lower than the '14 thru '21 releases. I emailed Alex to see if this was a typo or the result of some late summer growing conditions. Since weāre mostly wine geeks here, I figured the group would enjoy his response:
Steve,
Thanks for the email and reaching out. Glad to hear the wine arrived safe and sound. The one hour decant is correct and I am happy that you will be opening a bottle next month to share with friends. In 2022 we had an unprecedented heat spike around Labor Day weekend. The temperatures in Oakville were 118 degrees for two days and then it ācooled downā to about 105 for the next four days. A lot of vineyards shutdown and turned into raisins so it was a challenging vintage for many to find balance. Thanks to our old vines, dry farming, and head trained canopies, our vineyard got through the vintage much better than most and we were able to make a beautiful wine. Due to the heat, the wine came out more approachable than some other vintages but I am still confident it has the intensity for age gracefully for many years. Please let me know what you think when you try the wine!
Alex
