I recently opned a 2016 W&M Shifflet Ranch. So f-in delicious. The nose was intoxicating. Such a beautiful expression of Napa cabernet.

2016 William & Mary Cabernet Sauvignon Shifflett Ranch - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oak Knoll District (6/7/2025)
Opened, poured into a decanter, and enjoyed over several hours with dinner (pappardelle (fatta en casa) in a short rib sauce, in case you were wondering) and then alone post-dinner.
Dark purple color.
Beautiful nose of blueberries, violets, plum, cherrries - all unfurling in the glass. Good bright intro with rich sweet fruit accented with fresh mint. Great acidity to give the fruit some lift.
So much going on in the glass. Wine shows depth and elegance. Impressive.
Outstanding wine.

I have been on the W&M list since the beginning, I have bought every vintage thus farā¦I opened a 2014 (inaugural vintage) a few weeks ago, just an outstanding Cab! Beautiful fruit, tannins have mellowed but are still present, good structure, smooth finishā¦Iām lucky to have a few bottles leftā¦

Yeah you are. Mine are long gone, I currently have 2015-2022.
I also have a fear of missing out on McDonald. Unfortunately, I donāt think that can be fixed.

I opened a 2014 the other night as well. Agree completely with these comments.
It was a recent āoff menuā offer per se for those that read to the end of the email of the Pinot release.

Itās a great wine - my wife and I tasted it last year and she insisted I load up whenever it became available. Our last bottle was, ādelicious, dense, red fruited with some nice savory notes coming through.ā Iāll try to make some better notes tomorrow!

Well, the chaos of a family gathering did not lend itself to any better notes when I got to this. Black cherry, menthol, a little herbal note like a tomato leaf. The aromatics really jump out of the glass, I could smell this for hours but it disappeared pretty quickly.
