2021 Château Pégau Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Maclura - $20 bucks of WOW

Sorry, I’m in the middle of moving and my tasting notes from the vintage are still at my old house.

From memory, it’s a pleasing, sturdy, mid-weight vintage. Expect a little more heft than the 2021, but without sacrificing any freshness. I’ll post more detail when I bring over my notebooks.

My problem kicks in when I’m drinking milkshakes like wine.

Not Dan, but 2022 overall will be at least as good if not better than 2021 at Pegau, though with riper tannins and more body -

@Dan_Kravitz - Dan, can you comment on the 2019 Pegau Maclura?

Klaus,

This wine is extremely consistent from vintage to vintage. 2019 is a little richer, more opulent, but not at all soft or overripe. It is probably at peak now. If you taste '19, '20 and '21 side by side it will probably seem slightly fuller, but with comparable backbone.

Thank you Dan

Case of ‘21 showed up on saturday. Pulled cork on one yesterday, had with cheese, enjoyed it, glad to have 11 more. $226 for the case to my door.

Never had this before, but due to the love here, got on the internet and ordered 3 bottles of the 2019. About $26 each including the shipping.
