The 2021 Blue Monster is Available Here
Hello Berserker Family!,
The offering of the 2021 vintage of Blue Monster has arrived with great anticipation. As you know we did not bottle any Cabernet Sauvignon in 2020 due to smoke, so excitement was an understatement when we showed up on bottling day for the 2021 vintage. Our block on Abreu’s Las Posadas Vineyard continues to evolve with each passing vintage and 2021 was a generous one.
We only craft a small amount of Blue Monster since we utilize fruit solely from the center of the block where elevation is slightly higher than the surrounding vines, and the fruit soaks in every bit of sunshine ripening to perfection. Aging in 100% new French Oak for 20 months allowed us to express the monstrous vision that is Blue Monster.
The nose emits blue fruit, black currant, baking spices, smoldering earth, and crushed rock. The palate loyally brings to the senses blackberry, cool blue fruit, cassis, blue florals, crushed rock, and a warming array of spices. The finish is long and dense with monstrous tannins that linger with a touch of cool eucalyptus and warm vanilla.
A mere 75 cases of this vintage were selected from the best barrels that represent The Monster you have grown to love.

With each vintage, a story is told. A story of the year, the weather, the stories from within the winery, and the stories of a family. With this vintage we were greatly excited to once again be able to come together at the winery for bottling and to share the souls of our beloved Blue Monsters with you as we have since the 2016 vintage.
But not every year or vintage is all excitement. With this vintage a weight of sorrow was on our hearts as we were bottling. A few weeks ago we had to say goodbye to our beloved Blue Monster, Sarto, whose silhouette graces the labels of our family’s wines. Some of you may or may not have known, Sarto suffered from epilepsy and while he never let that impede on his dedication to his family, he has lost his battle. He was the inspiration for this wine we craft and his soul will live on in every vintage.
Sometimes the monsters at your feet return to be the monsters in your dreams.
We want to thank you for the support of Blue Monster and hope you will raise a glass to Sarto and celebrate his life and dedication to his family.
