Went down to the home cellar to grab a simple wine for dinner.
2018 Keller Von der Fels was calling my name. Obviously not a simple wine. This is predominately from Kirchspiel. WOW this is great and in an incredible place. Just perfect all around. The acidity, energy and tension for a 2018 really surprised me. Everything was in balance. And the citrus flavors are both juicy and bitter. Just delicious.
I recently attended a 2013 tasting and we all agree that for our next tasting we would check in on 2018s in the fall. If this is a window into other dry 2018s I am going to be very happy…
If you have some 18 Von der Fels I would check in.
Thanks Robert for the update, as a matter of fact I believe I do have some, I’ll definitely dig one up and put it in the fridge for a suitable occasion. Yum
Keller and balance
But if the expectation of lower acidity, why would you prefer to wait (or maybe you meant that you’d expected to prefer any of the vintages)?
Could we all please all be very quiet about this wine, lest the word will spread further to even more thirsty consumers about this brilliant jewel of a Riesling…
