I’m excited to announce that 2017 Little Wings Syrah 3-packs are now available for sale!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with us, we created Little Wings in 2015 to commemorate the life of our daughter - Mikaela - who was born very prematurely at 24 weeks gestational age. She was born at the University of Miami’s Holtz Children’s Hospital and lived in their incredible NICU for 11 days before passing away.

We decided to create Little Wings to prove that even the tiniest of lives could have a huge and lasting impact on this world.

100% of the profits generated from Little Wings are donated to NeoPals at the University of Miami Holtz NICU, which is an amazing organization of doctors and nurses that work with NICU families to provide amazing services to make the otherwise-terrifying NICU experience as “human” as possible. They do incredible things for these families such as provide regular updates, ensure families are allowed to interact with their babies to the fullest medically-allowed extent, take cute photographs of the preemies (nobody is thinking of baby photos in this situation), and give the babies and parents teddy bears that contain recordings of one another’s heartbeats. My wife and I would’ve done anything to have had access to NeoPals while our daughter was alive. The service is new, though, and we’re focused on ensuring they can have the greatest and widest impact possible.

Now, I’m a wine geek, so the quality of the wine is of utmost importance. People often confuse “Charity wine” with “Cheap wine” - with Little Wings I’m proud to say that isn’t the case.

Our flagship Syrah is single vineyard, sourced from the organically farmed Rodnick Farm in the Chalone AVA and is meticulously and loving produced by none other than Ian Brand. It’s a cool-climate Syrah that is reminiscent of a St. Joseph Syrah, while being authentically Californian. Ian uses a fair amount of whole cluster fruit, and strives for a more classic expression of Syrah with this wine without shying away from its origin.

We’re really proud of these wines, and believe they stand on their own two feet.

Jorge is a great guy, this is a great cause and every bottle of little wings I’ve had has been, on a purely wine level, superb. This is honestly fantastic wine that would be a great qpr even without the wonderful charity angle.

Thanks a lot for being such a big supporter, Rob. I’m glad to hear you say that about the wine. It’s our goal to produce wines people want to buy because of how much they enjoy them - the charity should be icing on the cake. I genuinely believe our Syrah is unlike any other CA Syrah. The cool climate, Ian’s style, and overall treatment of the wine makes it really difficult to compare to anything else.

I hope you guys get a chance to enjoy the wines, looking forward to hearing other’s opinions.

My 2017s arrived a couple of weeks ago so I haven’t tried one yet.

I’ve opened one bottle each of the 2015 and 2016. Ian Brand did a great job with these. Balanced, elegant wines. I’m going to hold on to the rest for a few years.
