2016 Ramonet 1er Cru Clos du Cailleret

  • 2016 Jean-Claude Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos du Cailleret - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru (10/28/2018)

Busting from the glass with a complex bouquet of apple, peach and hazelnut. On the palate the wine is concentrated, layered and deep underpinned by bright acidity and citrus with real cut and tension through the finish. Fantastic stuff! (93 pts.)

not to be confused w Cailleret. I posted on the 2014, their first year w this vineyard. Not sure why it’s considered a monopole when Chartron makes it in 2016 also. Bought some yesterday, as a matter of fact. Girardin made a less expensive version, haven’t tasted it. Would love to learn more.

Chartron makes Clos Du Cailleret from Puligny, this Ramonet is from Chassagne.

Education question: What’s the diff between the clos cailleret and the regular cailleret?

This is a parcel formerly owned by Vincent Girardin which was bought by FICOFI and given in fermage (if I’m correct) to Jean-Claude Ramonet.

Great to have William on the ground there 6 months/year and sharing snippets of insights with us.

Yes thanks for the detailed info!
