2015 Rhones - What are you buying??

Rob - in what vintages did they produce Dolium after 2010? I don’t know how to find the info.

Thanks!

Cristian

That’s a good list. I wouldn’t go higher than 26% though. How much syrah can you consume? I’d like to buy more widely than I do, but I prefer to follow wines over time so tend to buy more bottles of the same wine.

All the vintages releases have had them. Including 14

Wow, interesting. I have not seen any offered, including in Europe. How were they?

Cool, sounds good. Got some at Winex for $25, hope its as good as the 2007 was.

Also picked up some declassified Condrieu from Francois Villard, under some other VDP moniker. That sounds like it would be great with scallops or something.

Starting to see the 2015s out on the shelf, got Le Vieux Donjon CdP to try out.

I’m an Ogier fan, especially at the price point for his lower end stuff. I’ve had several bottles of the Cote-Rotie, but I’m liking the La Rosine (100% syrah, Vin de Pays des Collines Rhodaniennes) at ~20 euros and am drinking one as I type. #infanticide

Picked up several bottles of the 2016 Alors Les Artistes (~14 euros) tonight to try over the break. Also totally caved and bought a 2012 Beaucastel CdP I saw sitting on the shelf tonight. I told the wife we’re drinking it on Christmas Eve to justify the price

Envoyer just offered '15 Jamet for $179.99.

Ouch.

sommpicks had it for 159 a week ago, sold out in a jiffy.

Yea bye-bye Jamet!

Another place where backfilling is a no-brainer.

Was thinking the exact same thing. The 2015 vintage has gotten way too much hype. I’m not yet convinced that it is any better than 2010 or 2013, at least among the wines that I target.

Just took my own advice, backfilled on a few 2010 Ogier Cotie Rotie. B21 for $90.

Truth. I saw the Envoyer offer today for $179. Deleted it (reluctantly [cry.gif]) but that’s too much now for my comfort level.

This one is a little surprising. Good, but more modern in style - though I hear he has backed off on new oak.

It’s looking like N. Rhone has gone over the edge in pricing. Clape beyond what I’ll pay. Jamet well beyond. Gonon gone nuts. I expect 15 Allemand to hit or exceed $200, at least for Reynard. Still a few up-and-comers and under-the-radar producers, but sadly I have to be done with too many of the long time standard bearers. Sigh.

Time to go to Crozes!

Rob, I agree…after tasting the wines in Reboule du rhone event last month in NYC, I’ll take '10 and '13, especially at these prices. Its not that the wines were poor, some had too much muscle to taste new world, others were on par with the '10s and '13s. The only wines I bought in '15s were Chave’s St. Joseph Offerus at sub $30.

Its more like Bordeaux 14s vs 15s…I’ll take 14s which are classic vintage at reasonable prices over a hyped hot vintage at parabolic prices.

I did the same thing, loaded up heavily on the 2014 Bordeaux and then went back for more after some tastings. My kind of vintage over a bigger, riper vintage. Heck, I think 2011 Northern Rhônes are beautiful.

This was a great tip, thanks. I didn’t really care for the regular Tunnel Cornas, a bit too simple. But the Pur Noir was excellent. Very much has it’s own signature, more complex than a Paris Geynale, more polished than a Clape.
