2012 Rhys Pinot Noir 'Family Farm'

My last 375 of this beauty. Good night, sweet princess.

With local lamb shank with beans, tomatos and a plethora of oregano, thyme and rosemary from Sally’s garden pots.

The aromas are vivid, with mostly black fruit, raspberry and cherry, but a good touch of red raspberry, plenty of pungent earth, plenty of minerality. The palate is truly harmonious, almost seamless, with both velvet and grip, an almost lush texture but with encouraging backbone at the finish. The flavors follow the aromas, now with earth to the rear, minerals to the fore. This doesn’t have the intensity and zing of the Santa Cruz Mountain bottlings, but is almost Burgundian, with the feel of a fine textbook Nuits St Georges. A wonderful showing. I think I have some 750s left, will hold for another few years. This is beautiful right now, full-sized could be a little closed. Rated 94.
