2012 Liquid Farm White Hill Chardonnay

Light yellow color with a clear rim. Terrific nose of pears, lemon, and minerals. The palate was an amazing blend of lemon, pear, minerals, and a leesy note. Structurally, this medium-bodied wine has racy acidity that makes it nervy. The finish is long and tart with great fruit. Overall, this was a wonderfully vibrant wine that was made to be paired with food. It was excellent with ricotta gundi asparagus, peas, and mint. The wine brought out the mint and meshed beautifully with the acidity from the lemon zest.

Cheers,
Scott

A very good wine. I really enjoyed it.

Love this wine…just had some last week, with fish…paired beautifully.

Enjoyed this one last weekend. I did want a bit more depth on the palate, but I can see this aging well and maybe fleshing out a bit with time. It does have nice acidity, balance, and length, and could easily be mistaken for a very good Chablis. We thought it was favorably priced, as well.

I just re-upped (The Wire-style) with Nikki and Anna to make certain I’d have some to age. I’m going through the LF like…heroin? …Pink Crack?

Got 5 Mags on their way… Love the Liquid Farm.

I’ve said it before that I was reluctant to commit to this much Chard, but I do like the style of chards they produce.

Consumed a bottle of this last weekend with some mussels while cooking with the wife. It was gone before I really had time to think about it. Will have to crack another and remember to jot down some better notes this time. [head-bang.gif]

Sounds like a good enough note to me.

This was our first Liquid Farm and I’ve been looking forward to trying one. I poured a couple glasses and handed one to Ann, blind. I have to say I smiled when she took a whiff and said, “smells minerally, salty - like Chablis.” Just what I had heard and why I bought it. The wine is taut, with lemon/lime, tart green apple, good acidity, saline and mineral. There is a hint of light toffee or butterscotch on the finish but it is light and not obtrusive. I wouldn’t say this is lean as there is a little weight, yet it is crisp and thirst quenching. Reminds me a little of the Yuen bottling from Wind Gap. I’m so glad there seems to be some momentum with style of Chardonnay coming out of CA. Really good.

I had a bottle last weekend. My brief note:

  • 2012 Liquid Farm Chardonnay White Hill - USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills (4/20/2014)
Aromas and flavors of apples, pears, lemons, herbs and a huge dose of minerals. Long finish. Very nice wine, the only improvement for my palate could be more acidity. (91 pts.)
