Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I didn’t find a dedicated thread…
What’s the good word on Northern Rhone syrah for 2012? My understanding is it’s another solid year, mixing bits of 09 thru 11 into a style of its own. True? Any particular terroirs to look out for? Are quantities as reduced here as in other parts of France?
Thanks,
Jeff J
It’s supposed to be a good year, but not quite as good as 09 and 10. Not sure about the quantities.
It´s an excellent vintage, more in the style of 2009 than 2010, with slightly less intensity than 09, but more than 2011, with more flamboyant fruit character.
Quantities are very low.
Wines will be attractive early on, but will age at least 12-15 years (CR, Herm, Cor).
That´s reg. the reds, in white I prefer 2011 due to higher acidity.
Ok, thanks. Too bad we’ve got yet another region with good quality and tiny volumes in 2012.
