A bit closed at first, but opened up with a little air over 4-5 hours. Very tart red fruits with lots of energy and zippy acid. The nose was incredible and full of berries and floral notes. Perfect tension and the right amount of structure, classic red burg. If I was blinded on this 100 times, I’d pick it out as red burgundy 100 times. It’s textbook stuff.
Definitely plan on purchasing more Barthod, which of the domaine’s wines tend to be folks’ favorites?

I’ve had a pretty good mix of the 1ers and they seem to (gross generalization) occupy a fairly narrow and delicious range of quality. But I’ve never done a horizontal so that might help me better understand the subtle differences. In other words, you can’t go too wrong.
Btw if you want to try an earlier drinking Barthod, the Bourgogne Rouge Bons Batons packs a lot of quality for the price.
I still think that needs some time though. 17 just starting to drink well.
Hah, no doubt! Barthod doesn’t make any simple early drinkers. I have some of her 2010 Chambolle village that I’ve been meaning to give a try but am in no rush.
