2012 Figeac, A Rolland wine?

Moving from a WB lurker to participant…

Rolland was only involved in blending the wine in 2012, which I suppose is probably the most he could have done given the timing of his appointment.

I’m wondering to what extent he could have imparted his style through the blend or whether 2012 is like Figeac of “old” (ie things like when to pick had already been determined). I realize there is more merlot in the 2012 blend, but it doesn’t appear to be a massive step up and perhaps merlot would have been higher anyways given the vintage. Gilman likes the wine, and Parker gave it 86-88, which would imply this is more like older Figeac. But a couple of other critics seem to imply they notice the impact of Rolland on the vintage.

Are there any views with respect to Figeac’s 2012? Are fans of older vintages buying it?

I realize the topic of Rolland has been actively discussed, but I haven’t seen much about his actual impact on the wine yet.

Figeac has its fans here; I am not one. Rolland might actually help them.

And welcome to active status!
