2011 Vintage Port review (Symington's - Dow's, Graham's, Warre's, Cockburn's, etc)

This is a beauty for sure. I’ve had this and the '94 Nacional side by side a number of times now. Normally the Nacional wins, but the last time the regular bottle won as the Nacional has now closed up tight as a drum. I’d not recommend opening it any time soon. I’m curious to see if the regular 1994 Noval follows suit or not. Some of the 1994 VP’s didn’t seemed to enter that closed up phase most VP’s go through earlier in their life and are now doing so later in the game. I can’t recall the regular Noval having been in this phase as it’s always seemed to show well.

Andy and Roy,

Thanks for the advice. Grabbed some Dow since I typically love the style. Also some Fonseca for the wife.

For those who have ever wondered what the IVDP sends to a producer after their VP sample has been analyzed and approved. Here it is, from Oscar Quevedo about his 2011 VP [notworthy.gif]

Though for those of us watching our waistlines you probably shouldn’t read the last result line on page 1 regarding KCal’s per 100ml

I’m facing the same dilemma. At 44 years old, with the flood of offers hitting my inbox touting 2011, I’m looking at deals on already aged vintage port and wondering why make an investment now that will take 20-25 years to mature.

Larry-I am about the same age, and think this will be my last go round with a new vintage.
