Just got the release email. Jumped from $72 to $80 per bottle. Any thoughts?
My thought is that (a) Relentless is a wine that only really gets good at 10+ years from the vintage, and (b) you can buy early-mid 2000s vintages of the wine at retail right now in the $60-70 range, and sometimes less on CC or auction sites.
So I’d buy older ones rather than the 2011, though if your objective is to have something to open in 2028, then maybe it’s different.
Chris, as always, appreciate your perspective. Unfortunately with our arcane shipping laws here in Texas, auction sites and 99% of internet retailers are not an option.
To your point about aging, I would agree…opened up a 2010 earlier this year and it was a complete fruit bomb. Great structure, lots of potential, but nowhere near ready!
