Wow! Loads of garrigue, minerality and complexity. I loved this on both the nose and the palate. I hadn’t paid as much attention to the Rhys syrahs as to their pinots. My bad.
I have so few of these compared to my Pinot I am afraid to open them. I want to taste one with 10 years on it, so I sit it in the back hidden away and drool over others post.
I drank thru all of my Alesia Syrah (the '06 Fairvew was a killer deal, really wish I bought much more)… except a lone bottle of '04 Chileno.
I buy a few Rhys Syrah’s every offer - but have only drank one, a year ago … the '07 Horseshoe, which was amazing! but have yet to pop a Skyline…
Thanks for the TN
Jason,
We plan to offer our first Syrah Futures around April or May of next year (before we bottle the '13 Horseshoe Syrah). It will be very similar to the Pinot Futures program (with 375, 500, mags etc).
Kevin, that’s awsome.
I actually stopped buyimg the pinot, because, well between you, kutch, oregon pinot and burgs, i just am full up on pinot, hence that’s why im selling a little bit.
Also, as I’m the extreme outlier, I really don’t care for Pinot in 12’ from California, different strokes and such.
I love your syrah though, and will be a buyer if im still on the list, i don’t have a lot of domestic ayrah and your’s is more than welcome in my cellar.
Now thats a future I will go deep on. I get enough for my needs from my normal allocation so I have been buying large formats from the futures and last year a case of the chard (as I am not allocated much).
With the syrah, that will be an easy choice for me
