…just into Red Hook this morning after nine days on the Queen Mary 2 out of Hamburg.
very well fed in steerage class, found this wine on the list for $42.50 and drank a few…
do these folks own vines down there?
twas truly deelish. just a fab vintage for Cru Beajolais, or is this one customarily nice?
Funny you mention 2011 Bojos. Had another Vissoux Poncie last night that failed to excite again. Just a touch herbal.
but Vissoux I always consider to be intentionally rustic and rather striking, even angular…
the Fleurie was (shudder to use the word) smooth as satin.
and had had some edges chopped off of it, but was still yummm with 3xM (out of a possible 4) on the end…
James, to my knowledge, Mommessin is négociant in the Beaujolais and doesn’t own its own vines.
Kent, à chacun son gout. But neither in the 2011 Fleurie Poncié from Vissoux nor in the roughly 50 other 2011 Beaujolais Crus I’ve tasted and drunk, I’ve picked up any herbal notes. For my taste, 2011 is a very harmonic and nicely balanced vintage for Beaujolais with clean and ripe fruit. For me, the 2011 Fleurie Poncié from Vissoux shows clear fruit, attractive minerality and is nicely balanced (drunk twice, it was consistently good).
