La Côte Patriarche, La Côte Rousse and La Serenne Syrahs, all $55; Bésoleil $45.
Great people, well made wines, but I have tons of previous vintages. I’ll think about this one. How was the '11 vintage in Washington?
Warren, I am pretty sure that 11 was one of the coldest vintages on record for the state. Acidity will not be a problem to say the least. I’m sure Bob Betz can coax something wonderful out of tough conditions though. Yet…
I too have plenty of Betz wines, and it seems the Rhone wines have been deeply discounted by retailers the last few years (the 09 La Cote Rousse was $39.99) so this is a pass for me. Great wines though.
I’ll be a small buyer and definitely look forward to tasting the wines at the Open House in September.

Betz is one of the few hometown wineries I’m comfortable buying every year, regardless of vintage (along with Cadence and Abeja), although I’m also only a small buyer on the Rhones.

2011 is my first vintage for Betz Syrahs.
Hopefully they will not be disappointing.
