2010 Hospice du Rhone - Is it Too Early To Start Talking About It?!?!?

Love the event and will be pouring for tercero this year!}

Just wanted to see who was planning on attending . . .

Cheers!

I’ll be there!

I alway go, but I hope it is better than it was last year. Not nearly as many French as usual, and that is my main reason for going. Maybe it was just the economy.

Kimberly and I will be pouring our new 07’s on Fri. and Sat. this year. I’m already looking forward to the after parties at Villa Creek. That was super fun last year.

Looking forward to my 10th HdR this year…
Hopefully it will not rain during the BYOM BBQ this year…

2000 was shot on film

I’ve planned on going the last two years and haven’t yet made it. headbang

Hopefully 2010 is the year, I need to get there before the end of the world in 2012!

I think this would be a great year to attend, given the across the board quality of the 07 vintage, which most of us will be pouring.
I’m hoping they can get some guys from the Priorat to come this year, and I agree with linda, more French presence would really add a lot to the event. Lets hope they step it up a bit this year.

Not sure if I can swing this but I hope to. Or maybe I’ll just hang around for the after parties. [berserker.gif]

I may come this year.

I may be in the minority, but I really dig all of the dometic rhones that I normally don’t have a chance to taste . . .

Not that I DON’T want to see others from FR, AUS, etc - it just doesn’t ‘make or break’ this event for me . . .

I know they’ll be having a semianr focusing on South African wines this year - not sure what the others are or if they are set.

I’ll start a separate thread about Rhone Rangers, which I’m also pouring at and actually having a hand in helping to organize [bow.gif] It should be a great weekend - and one that takes place a month before HdR . . .

Cheers!

Stephane Ogier is the other announced seminar…

Just reserved my room at the Adelaide Inn, which will allow easy stumbling access back to the room after the days festivities. The hotel is right across the street and is about as close as you can get to the events. [thumbs-up.gif]
Lets hope we do not get rear ended like last year. [oops.gif]

Larry, I will be looking for the RR event you mentioned. Good times in 2010. [berserker.gif]

Mel, I think you need some math help - if 2000 was your first year, then next year will be your 11th HdR [cheers.gif] Same here, 2000 was my first year there. And agree with you about the weather, though it was a memorable “BBQ” in your room this year.

Tomasso’s ceviche was killer, and those Lagier Meredith, Mount Veeder brownies! [swoon.gif] I hear it’s a three year wating list for those.

Looking forward to drinking this tonight!
at our tasting group’s Lagier Meredith vertical

And of course at HdR too!

I hope to make HdR this year - not so much the seminars, but the partying after!!

How about hotels? Where are the cool places to stay? (cheap)

Todd,
Check out the HdR site, they usually have links to lodging.

I just tasted through the Dragonette Cellars lineup last week and was very impressed. If you are going, you might want to consider what Dragonette has to offer at HdR.

Paso Robles Inn is across the street from town square and walking distance to Villa Creek. The hotel is a bit rustic in decor but they were doing a remodel when I was there last Spring. As they jack up their rates for HdR, most tend to book a few months in advance. Also, they provide a shuttle to the grand tasting, or at least they did two years ago when I attended the event.

There’s a Marriott a mile or so down the street off the 101 but not close to any of the events. You’d definitely need to drive.

Thanks dude - glad you liked it. I’ve already started thinking about what I’m going to do to top it this year…but I’m having cook’s block.
I was thinking marinated black cod, but I’m not sure that it’s so wine friendly.
