Just got back from a hedonistic lunch with my brother in law who was in Chicago for meetings. We went Chicago Cut Steakhouse and had oysters, NY Strips, onion rings and lobster mac n cheese.
On the wine list they had the 2010 Faiveley Les Porets St. George for $110. For 1er cru at an expensive restaurant, I thought the price was quite decent.
We just popped and poured and the wine was ready to go. Really nice floral perfume with strawberry notes that also translated to the palate. Good sweet but not cloying fruit that masked the underlying tannins. The strawberry notes turned to blacker berry flavors over time. I also got a hint of warm spices, not exactly cinnamon, but close. Good acidity on the finish.
My brother in law who’s cab drinker really liked the wine.
