I really enjoyed the 2007 and 2009 versions, but have yet to try a 2010. Recent discussions of Drouhin encouraged to give it a try. Very happy to have done so.
2010 Drouhin Beaune Clos des Mouches: Mid red. Lively lifted nose of fresh strawberries with florality and a bit of dried herbs. Palate was open and delicious with more strawberry and maybe a bit of raspberry, supple fine grained tannins and good acidity, layers of flavour continue to the balanced long finish. This is traveling really well and is a treat to drink now. Shows off the Drouhin elegance and refinement well.
I do like the Mouches quite a bit, I think it’s the biggest holding I still have from Drouhin, but I’ve found it to need time. Glad the 10 is drinking well.
Quickly checking it looks like I have the most gevrey AC followed by mouches then beze.
Nice note Brodie. Mouches Rouge provide an outsized amount of joy. Agree with Michael that age is our friend with this wine. Has anyone tried a 2014 yet? Sitting on a six pack but haven’t wanted to open one yet.
Tight as a drum late last year when a friend opened. All indications were that the elements are nicely in place, just not giving or generous at this point.
Nice note, Brodie. When I was getting into Burgundy I drank a fair share of Drouhin Mouches. As others have said, it over-delivers considering price and availability.
My two faves were my bottles of the '83 (surprisingly excellent) and '90 (not so surprisingly excellent) consumed at different gatherings in 2016. Time, indeed.
Agree, had an excellent bottle last year. Good enough I went and bought another one. I think it’s in a good place. I’d say it won’t get better but a '79 a few years ago was glorious. So you never know.
