2010 Darioush Caravan cab

2010 Darioush Caravan cab

Anyone tried this yet?

I’ve been drinking a lot of Pinot lately and it’s hard for me to switch gears to cab, but I drank this with a steak the other night and it was surprisingly damn good. 90 min. decant. Big (not over the top) and luscious. Cheap, too. I’ve got cabs that cost 2x as much that cannot compete with this.

Jen’s a fan of Darioush, but I’ve never had any, and can’t get myself to visit the tasting room, aka ‘Persian Palace’

I had a bottle and loved it

I think it’s better than the high-end Darioush cab that I paid about 3x as much for, as much as it pains me to say.

Opened another bottle of 2010 Caravan the other night and it’s still drinking very well. Maybe the best QPR Napa cab I’ve ever purchased.

Far from AFWE, but not horrible is the impression from tasting a prior vintage… I wouldn’t drink it given the choice, and for $50, there are several other cali cabs i’d buy.

Of course taste differ, if u like the vanilla/cream/oak stuff, it should suit really well!

Long gone now, but we had a case of the 2007 for $30/per. At that price I was popping them open with pizza and loving it.

No vanilla/cream/oak bomb in the bottles I’ve had. And I paid $26/bottle.

That’s half of typical retail pricing, you got a great deal.

I dunno. I’ve seen it many times for ~$30. Patrick noted above that he paid that too.

Which was the 07. Like the Darioush Cab, this wine went through some rapid price increases over a few years.

I bought it wholesale+ from a shady shop owner in my office building back then. I’ve always seen it for $50 at retail. Wouldn’t pay $50 but at under $30 it’s a solid bottle for sure.

Oh ok. at $26, the value proposition changes… WS doesn’t show anything near that price tho…
Agreed that you got a great deal.

Would you mind sharing where you got it at that price (PM is fine)? I would be a buyer for sure.
