2010 Cambon la Pelouse

I like the 2016 more than the 2014, and am surprised to say that given my affinity for the 2014 vintage. The oak is less pronounced in this 2016, though still more present than I would prefer. What I like is the fresh tangy red and sour cherry notes. Has a cool menthol note as well. Good structure with balance of acids and tannins. Some charcoal on the finish. A solid $20 wine to enjoy now or for a few to more years out, acknowledging that its profile is turning a bit modern with Bouard at the helm. Does not have that sense of place, a Bordeaux perfume.

Hi Arv. I think I’m only 2 into my case of this 05. No hurry. A solid 88 point value every time for me!

2010 Cambon la Pelouse is lovely wine - I remember when the Alliance des Cru Bourgeois brought the 2010 vintage to London after the classification for that year was announced, so probably late 2012. Of the 80-or-so 2010s I tasted, the Cambon la Pelouse was certainly my pick of the bunch.
