2010 Bedrock Wine Co. Heirloom Wine Pagani Ranch

Lori and I cracked a Bedrock last weekend to celebrate, after learning that a photo of mine from Pagani Ranch will be published in Jancis Robinson’s upcoming book, in a section about the Historic Vineyard Society:

As for the wine, amazing work from Dino & Morgan to grow and craft such a gorgeous wine during the disastrous 2010 vintage. I’m glad I’ve got a few more of these to track its development over the next several years…

Inky purple-black with a nose of intense blackberries, wildflowers, and blood on an iron pipe. Enters the palate smoothly, with primary black fruit forward, followed by brambly spice and smoky plums, finally finishing with chewy tannin. Everything here is big, but in balance and already well integrated. Lots of enjoyment now for those who like a big, bold wine, and the structure underneath should allow for development with age. Kudos to Dino and Morgan to craft such a gorgeous wine in the much talked about disastrous 2010 vintage.
