2009 Haut Tubee

I just cracked this. Initial barnyard nose blew off to reveal delicious dark berries on the nose with cola. Dark cherries with cola and perfectly balanced acid leads to a delicious finish. This wine is prime time and an excellent purchase! I love it!

I drank mine already, but thought it was a great QPR. After a stumble on the '10, I’m hoping the '11 will be a return to form. I haven’t popped one yet and am trying to be patient.

2010 HT was dreadful. I bought some of the new Cabs, but passed on HT. Opened a Cab a few weeks ago and it was solid. I heard the 2010 HT was a bottling issue, but I moved on.

“Dreadful” is being kind. I liked the '09 HT so much, I bought 18 bottles of the '10. So very disappointing. That is a wine that should not have been released.

The 2010 may be the single worst bottle of wine I have ever tried to stomach.

I’m wondering what happened to some of the 10s - i haven’t experienced what some folks have reported. I received mine and put them right in the cellar. I opened one a few months back and it was better than at release. At release, I found the oak to be out of joint with the fruit and tannin levels. Once it had some time to settle, I thought it was good - not as good as the 07, 08 or 09 - but still a good little pizza wine. I will try and pop one soon to see if they have continued to improve as they integrate.

I had mixed results with the 10. Two good bottles and then 4 off bottles. Who knows?

Paul and Stef have one of the most liberal replacement policies, so if you’re unhappy with your 10 HT, I bet they’d get you in for some 11 which, having tried it a little while back, is a return to form.

I only got 2 (2010s) and the one I opened was not good at all. I will try the last one one of these days. The 07 was like a beefed-up Cote Du Rhone, very good.

Paul has mentioned that there was a problem with a filter that affected some of the '10 HT (but not all, I think). And I can vouch that he definitely stepped up when I reached out to him about my poor experience with that wine.
