2009 Domaine Huet Vouvray Le Mont Moelleux

A Rare Wine Co. selection. Imported by Vieux Vines Inc., Vineburg, CA. 12.5% abv. Gold patina with transparency. Perfumed florals (white blossoms) and honey. Some botrytis? Ripe peach. Plenty of acidity to balance the sweetness. Reminds me in some ways of Riesling Auslese. The CT notes recommend cellaring until at least 2020 but that is not practical for me and it can be enjoyed now.

Jane, thanks for the note. Did your drink this straight up or pair it with a meal? I’ve not played into the Moelleux cuvee due to the point you make about sweetness (preferring the Sec cuvees).

Frank, didn’t see your question until today. I drank it without food as I wasn’t sure about pairings. Normally I do drink wine with a meal. With Riesling I will usually have it at the Auslese level as an after-dinner wine or with a fruity dessert (peach cobbler or the like) while some Spatlese I will have with dinner (pork or veal.)
