2008 Whistling Dog Pinot Noir NSV (Eola-Amity Hills)

Not many 2008s left on retail shelves, but I stumbled upon some 2008 Whistling Dog Pinot Noir NSV (Eola-Amity Hills) for $25 in Portland. I was intrigued by the vintage, AVA, notes and price, but can’t recall having heard of this producer. A quick check of CellarTracker, and I find a small sample of positive notes that align my palate. I’ve also had great luck with producers who dry farm (Cameron, Eyrie, Evesham Wood, etc.).

I bought one to try, but haven’t had a chance to open it yet. My experience with the 2008 vintage is that many aren’t showing themselves this early. Is Whistling Dog a solid producer? Is this wine a multi-bottle buy at $25? Ageability? Any notes or information about the producer would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joey
