This is interesting juice. Sourced mostly from the Arbre Vert Vineyard, this wine possesses one of the most interesting colors I’ve seen- it’s almost bronze and this darker color doesn’t seem like it’s due to age or a flaw. The nose is muted but I get melons, a little tropical fruit and nice minerality. On the palate, the wine has solid acidity and abundant fruit. Grapefruit, lemon, peach and some pepper are most prominent. This is just a solid wine for the money and really well balanced.
A very well made wine from Adam Lee. I wish I had a lot more of this. ***1/2
Vince, the wine is different, I believe than the Serene in that we are no-ml and all stainless/older oak. Of course, the vineyard is different…and I am sure there are some other differences as well.
Adam- best to you and your family this New Year’s! Heading to Lucio’s tonight in Houston and might bring some Siduri to bring in the New Year.
Just a suggestion to everyone- Buy this wine if you ever want to confuse the hell out of everyone in a blind tasting. I have a few more bottles and that might be a good use for it. But it’s also very tasty with seafood and a great QPR just like every other Siduri/Novy wine.
I may be the world’s largest consumer holder of this wine with 14 bottles, as it was part of a fantastic gift pack deal with two '07 Siduri pinots I wanted in volume. I got a case that way and had 3 already. The one bottle I’ve had was good, I remember a pleasant orange peel accent, and David you’re right that this would be impossible in a double blind tasting. The color is very cool, although negative points for a fairly low f’ed up factor.
Thanks for the note. The Novy Blanc Noir is a wonderful wine. I have served it blind many times. And the price is a huge bonus. This wine is superior to Dom Serene which sells for like 3X the price.
This is a rocking wine. When I tasted it at Pinot Days Chicago last month, I kept wanting to find out when Adam was going to make some bubbles. It’s like flat champagne. Great stuff.
