2008 Kosta-Brown RRV & SC release help

So this is the second year I’ve been on KB’s allocation for RRV & SC only. Today is the beginning of ordering for the '08 vintage. $52 sounds like either the same or lower than last year… can’t really remember.

Anyone tasted or seen reviews???

To orient comments I would say that I like these Pinots and favor the Sonoma Coast over the RRV. One of my favorite Pinots was their 2004 Sonoma Coast, and I really liked the 2006 SC as well. Haven’t tried the '07 yet.

Thanks.

Same price as last year.

I’ve only had one report from a friend who said they were “surprisingly good for an '08”.
I didn’t ask him to go in depth but I do trust his palate.

Right… but when you factor in tax and shipping, for me it’s $64 each.

Screw that!!! I can get damn good pinot for less than half that!!!

Always open to new opportunities. Please elaborate if you’re familiar with KB’s style.

Thanks. [cheers.gif]

I’m not in the “screw that” camp on KB but there is damn good Pinot out there for a lot less, no doubt.

KB still does “big and bold” better than anyone else, IMHO. A.P. Vin is probably the closest, but also is not cheap. In a less forward style, Joseph Swan is great at $30 a bottle, as are many many others (Siduri, etc.).

To clarify, I really do enjoy the KB style. I just wish I could afford it.
With retirement just a couple of years away, I’m having to reappraise what
I’m going to continue to buy from mailing lists. When cutbacks are necessary,
I find it harder to drop off of lists that offer discounts and free shipping.

As always, I wish Dan and Michael the best. They are top notch! My little temper tantrum is
not directed at them, but at pricing in general. If I had an unlimited budget,
I’d be in for my entire allocation.

AP Vin and Loring are sub $50 free shipping for single vineyards. August West is $42, Flowers is around !40 for Sonoma Coast. Sojourn $39. Kutch is $39. Nothing personal with KB, but I feel like I’m paying for scores.
