A couple of us from the board had the opportunity to preview this wine. It is not only wonderful, but the blend is quite different than previous bottlings, making this a fairly unique rose relative to the past DP roses. If you are on the fence, I would suggest getting some.
Jon - seems like our wives have similar tastes. Cristal has been killing it with the rose the past few vintages.
I checked my old emails and the last and only time we had dinner was back in 2016. That was a great night. Let me know the next time you in NYC and we will get the old crew together for a dinner.
I also donāt support Constellation Brands, E & J Gallo, Pernod Ricard, nor Treasury Wine Estates. It is a conglomerate focused on Veblen goods. Too many great independent producers that Iād rather support.
Not that many of which produce champagne as good as Dom 08, 12 though. But I appreciate that you spend with your sense of justice. I have no qualms with that. Though you should not be constantly amazed that others spend on things that provide them personal satisfaction as well, perhaps just for a different reason than what you purchase provides you satisfaction.
I wrote down a couple quick thoughts when I drank it (I had a lot by that point so I was fatigued): I found it enjoyable early relative to other post 2000 DP rose Iāve had. It wasnāt as heavy as other DP rose either on account of far less still wine used in production relative to other recent releases. The leanness and fine mousse showed good freshness and verve.
Interestingly, lvmh selling it in london for Ā£295 all in whereas merchantsā offers are well above that! Not sure whatās going on or how long that will last.
