I saw that PC had the 2007 Yquem in full bottles for $250, nearly half as expensive than other vintages. Thoughts? I’ve thought for a while that Yquem can’t sustain their pricing. 2005 has been discounted, and now 2007. I’m waiting for 2009 to drop in half or more, since I’ve heard it’s nearly as good as 2001.
Any thoughts from people who have tried these vintages post-2004?
Pretty sure this was a PC-specific sale, since everywhere else has the 375s at a higher price than PC sold the 750s. I grabbed some but assume it won’t arrive for a while.
Can’t say much about the pricing, but as far as the wines go, I preferred the 2010 over the 2007 and then the 2009, in that order…
Rather buy the '88 and '90 as they come around, properly stored, at sub $400 vs newer vintages. Rather get a 2 decade jump on the aging process.
Hence the downward pressure on recent vintages’ pricing. There is A LOT of d’Yquem out there from a decade or two ago.
I also can’t imagine they are selling a lot of 2007-2010 Yquem at pricing that exceeds 2001 Yquem, so I’m sure that there is a backlog of wines at the Chateau as well that will build up with each vintage.

The 2010 is on par with the 2001.
Better than any of the '88-'90 trio.
2007 is a very fine vintage at Yquem.
In vintage-conscious markets, people tend to confuse red and white Bordeaux.
Some vintages in Bordeaux can be just great for the dry white wines and/or the sweet white ones, but spotty for the reds. But many consumers tend to genearlize and oversimplify.
That can help in some years when Sauternes is not quite up to the standard of the red wines, but hinder when the reverse is true.
Such confusions exist between Bordeaux and Burgundy as well. The 2000 vintage in the Côte d’Or got an unexpected boost because that is such a good year in Bordeaux. Seen from Canton or Podunk Center, they’re all French wines…

Nah.
'88 my favorite d’Yquem of the last 35 years ('76 to '10).
Thought I haven’t had the '07, '09, '10 yet, but can’t see how they can be better than the '88, which I prefer to the '90, '86, '83, '76.
Maybe '01 can get there but too young to tell, at least for me.
