Popped one of these last night. It’s a partnership between Tensley and Cecile Durresses of Domaine Montvac. Details here http://www.tensleywines.com/detente.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Killer nose of blueberry, meat, and flowers. Palate is dark and brooding, there’s the dark blueberry fruit of Colson Canyon and iron and earth of the gigondas. Bit of heat on the backside that needs to work itself out and this could be special. Rather nice right now despite its youth. Around $40. Only 100 cases, but get some if you can find it. Reminded me of Copain’s C&C as a point of reference.
Interesting. Thanks for the note. I really like the '06 and '07 Colson Canyon, but was not aware of this bottling.
This just arrived to NY, read alot about it but have not tasted it yet.
I sampled this while at the Tensley tasting room in March. Joey happened in with it, I believe opened from the night before. It was my favorite of his wines that we tried. The blend seemed to give it more complexity.
Jeff, I recall your comments on this over on the other board. Definitely some added complexity. I’ve always liked the Colson from Tensley, and the blend adds another dimension that really broadens the profile here.
