2007 Siduri Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard Santa Lucia Highlands

Decanted three hours before serving. Dark garnet in the glass with some clearing around the rim. To emphasize how dark, I’m looking across the room at my wife’s glass right now and if you didn’t know what the wine was, you would guess Syrah or Merlot by looks alone. Sweet fruit on the nose. Candied cherries and orange peel. Full bodied and just a beautiful expression of pure fruit. Explosive mid palate of cherry cola, more orange peel and some licorice. Big finish which leaves a haunting essence of dark bing cherry and makes me miss summer in Seattle.

This is a direct juxtaposition from the Amalie Robert ORPinot we drank last night. It’s kinda like having the Grateful Dead and DJ Shadow on your IPod. Both are fantastic, but couldn’t be more different.

Highly recommended.
